Washington, D.C. producer and cultural advocate Tone P officially expanded his long-standing mission to elevate the city’s signature sound with the launch of GOGO Global, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, preserving, and expanding the reach of Go-Go, the official music of Washington, D.C.
The organization was introduced during a launch event held at the legendary ChiCha Lounge, a venue long recognized as a hub for music, nightlife, and cultural gatherings in the District. The event brought together artists, creatives, and community supporters to celebrate the beginning of what Tone P envisions as the next chapter in the global expansion of D.C.’s music culture.
For years, Tone P has been one of the most visible advocates for integrating Go-Go into major music projects and cultural initiatives. From incorporating Go-Go rhythm into mainstream hip-hop records to participating in the cultural movement behind Don't Mute DC, which helped influence legislation recognizing Go-Go as the official music of Washington, D.C., his work has consistently pushed the sound beyond local boundaries.

The nonprofit was created to build long-term cultural infrastructure around Go-Go, supporting artists, creating educational opportunities, and developing platforms that showcase the music and culture to new audiences across the country and around the world.
The organization also serves as the foundation behind several initiatives created by Tone P, including National Mambo Sauce Day, a cultural celebration that highlights Washington, D.C.’s culinary and music traditions, and Tha Carry Out, a live performance platform designed to showcase artists performing music over Go-Go inspired arrangements while spotlighting elements of D.C. culture.
Together, these initiatives form a broader ecosystem designed to amplify the city’s identity through music, food, fashion, and entrepreneurship.

For Tone P, launching GOGO Global is not just about preserving a genre, it’s about expanding a cultural movement.
Through the nonprofit, his vision is to continue building platforms that ensure Washington, D.C.’s sound, creativity, and cultural influence reach audiences far beyond the city that created it.
